Penny J. Searcy

Mrs. Penny J. Searcy, the beloved and beautiful daughter of Veora Jones and Chester Lippett born in Reynolds, Taylor County, Georgia on February 23, 1949. She attended public schools of Taylor County, Georgia. She joined Garden Grove Baptist Church as a child. She served as president of the choir and was one of the lead singers, until the closing of Garden Grove Baptist Church. She later became a member of the New Home Baptist Church, where she served as a lead singer in the choir. Sister Searcy was dedicated to many activities within her community. She often participated in the choir with other churches. On April 1, 1967, Penny joined in holy matrimony to the live of her life, Henry Searcy, Sr. She was well known for the beautiful sound of her voice and many other talents she shared with her community, family and friends. Penny was a very talented lady. She was a seamstress, fashion designer, makeup artist, hairdresser, song writer, etc. She was employed with Oxford, Inc. and Spilene of Reynolds, Ga. for many years. She traveled to many churches singing and giving God the praises. The surrounding counties knew her extremely well for songs she wrote and sang such as " Stay Right Here Until MY Chance Come, Wonder What The Lord Can Do, most of all When You Have Trouble Don't Cry." Everywhere she would go, one of those songs would be requested to be sung and she would sing as if it would be her last time singing. She was faithful until her health declined. God saw she needed rest from her labor, therefore, he summoned his darling angels to bring home his child. On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, God infinite wisdom brought home the soul of our beloved wife and mother, Penny. Her granddaughters, Nykesha and Brianna Searcy served as her faithful caregivers. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Ann Wilder and baby son, Kenneth Searcy; grandson, Isiah Jordan; her parents, Veora Jones and Chester Lippett; She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband of 55 years Henry Searcy, Sr., Reynolds?,Ga.; five sons Henry (Zorene) Searcy Jr., Kathleen, Ga., Kelvin Ross and Eric Robinson both of Reynolds, Ga., one son-in-law James D. WIlder,Jr., Reynolds, Ga., Two daughters Valerie Brown of Bonaire, Ga. and Jessica Winston of Perry, Ga.; Antone Montgomery and Marquez Montgomery both of Atlanta, Ga. whom she reared as her own; 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren;three loving sisters, Mary Marshall, Byron, Ga., Sue Newsome, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Jose Bell Henderson of Hartford, Connecticut; two loving brothers, Beaufort (Willene) Jones and Walter Jones all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Brother's and sister-in-law, Beatrice Daniels, Curtis (Shara Lee) Troutman, Albert Daniels, Mattie " Suzanne" Searcy, Bobby Daniels, Anne (Homer) Thornton, Clara Miller, Juanita Currelley, Mae Bell Searcy, Willie L. ( Odell) Searcy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Heaven is rejoicing because Penny and JoAnne Green again.
